Description: What is science policy and what can you do as a postdoc
to make yourself marketable in this field? In this webinar we will look at some
of the non-bench skills necessary to transition into science policy and how you
can develop your CV to reflect these abilities. There are several ways to get
your foot in the door: fellowship and internship opportunities will be
presented as well as volunteer positions with professional societies.
Bio: Meghan Mott is a postdoctoral fellow at the National
Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism where she studies neuromuscular
disorders and gene therapy using zebrafish. Originally from Louisville,
Kentucky, she earned her B.A. In Biology with a Specialization in Neuroscience
at the University of Chicago and Ph.D. In Anatomical Science and Neurobiology
at the University of Louisville where she studied cytokine expression in Autism
Spectrum Disorders. As co-chair for the NIH Fellows Committee on Career Development,
she is passionate about increasing the awareness of non-academic career
